Only coyote I ended up catching this year. With rain and ice the trapping was tough.
I connected on this fisher the last day. 10.7lb male.

Congrats Outdoorsman.....It’s been a tough for canines, playing in the mud . Other than the New Years Eve rain that swelled the creeks, it has been usually good beaver- rat weather. Last year at this time you could be a water walker. It was sub zero the first week of January.

Got these this morning. I had 3 traps set on the river, about a 1/2 mile upstream from where I parked the truck. I walked up to the first set, and found a good beaver alive, not drowned at the end of the slide wire like he's supposed to be. It got tangled up in a root in the water. Had to hoof it back to the truck to get the pistol to dispatch. After resetting that trap, I saw I had a kit in the next set. The last trap was another 100 yards upriver, trap was gone from the bed. When I pulled in the slide wire, there was a 40 pounder at the sack of rocks. I had to make two trips back to the truck, as I couldn't carry 3 beavers. Ended up hiking 3 miles between the three trips to the truck. I guess I can always use the exercise.

This is the 5th beaver for this set in 7 night. Trap is bedded beside the rerod sticking out of creek.
