does anyone hold furs til the next year if prices are bad.

I know several guys that do that. They may hold them for a couple of years.

Hern , since I don't trap, how does you store furs with out damaging the furs and for how long?

Here are some methods that guys use- Walk in cooler(s) for large lots. Am talking 1000's of hides per year. Normally bundled tight. Baled.
Other guys with 100's of put up hides use chest freezer(s). Hides are laid flat, with weight added on top, to keep 'em packed tight (if freezer isn't stuffed full).
It's hard for most to comprehend, but guys still put up 1000's of fur each season. Put in cold storage and wait for market to meet their selling price. At that time, they sell.
It's a roll of the dice, but there are still trappers and raw fur speculators playing this game. Just like any commodity.
