I'd say coyotes are slower to want to commit to a set. And once you do cuff him or cable him, he's a much stronger critter. Fox don't pop the jaws of a trap, pull a stake, or chew through 3/32 cables like a coyote can.
really ? we have way more coyotes around and in my lifetime of trapping i can say that a fox pretty much commits suicide , they will go into a set way quicker than any coyote
I think we both agree that catching a coyote is tougher. What I was saying in regard to populations, is you can't catch what isn't there. If the coyote have eliminated most of the fox, and all you catch are coyote, a guy will swear that fox are tougher to catch.
