Now, what are the odds of this ever happening?!?
Tis the Season for my Holidays
This certainly has been a heck of a trapping season for me. 2 career first catches for me!
#1 First catch... I caught my first Red Fox on Thanksgiving Day in 2010.
#2 First catch... I just caught my first PA. Bobcat on New Year's Day 2011.
Story doesn't end there.
Headed up the favorite spot this morning to check my 4 sets I had out, 2 for Cats and 2 for Fox.
Decided I wanted to do some X-Bow hunting for Deer too at the same time, so as I headed out on the line I Still Hunted my way with the X-Bow, checking traps along the way.
A little different routine than usual.
Finally arrived to my 3rd set and had nothing to show. Decided to take a little break and sit on post in my Uncle's favorite stand for a few hours which was only 30 yards away. Sitting there I was listening to a couple Hounds taking chase on some type of critter off in the distant. Some hunters were getting some action I was thinking!
After seeing nothing as far as deer was concerned, I still had the thoughts embedded in my head that I must get to this final set and soon.
Off I go, when I arrived to the ledges I casually climbed up and stuck my head over the rocks to view the set. WOW.. There she was and literally scared the crap outta me too as I never expected to be up close and personal with a Bobcat!
After the Heart Rate dropped back down to normal, I started taking photos and making phone calls all at the same time.
Soon reality set in and I properly dispatched her and collected my Harvest, feeling proud with the feeling of great accomplishment every minute I was there!
Here's another kicker that I realized after I filled out my Bobcat Harvest Tag.
This is my very First Bobcat. Taken on 1/1/11. At precisely 1:00 pm was my dispatch time.
Was this also the First Bobcat harvested in PA. for 2011?
Just something that would always be in my Memories!
15 lb. female taken with a #3 Bridger.
Gotta give a special Thanks to the guy "Bobcat", James was a special Trapping mentor for me, Learned me a lot!
Another Thanks to Morgan Lures. Bill, your lures hit the spot!
Now off to the Taxidermists again, This is getting expensive!
ENJOY my couple Photos!
Here's a very short video of how nasty these cats really are.
Thanks for Lookin'
