Here is 1 for ya.

Someone set traps next to a headless deer carcase near the rail road tracks which happens to be near property I have permission to trap and there is a fox in the trap. Couple deer hunters who know I trap the adjacent property called to see if it was mine. Took the landowner down to see if it was on his property. Its not, its railroad property.

Traps were chained with a bike cable combination lock to a sumac tree. Called the Game Commission, but with the holidays it appears no one is around to take the call. I'm trying to do the right thing here. What would you do???

If you want to go the WCO route, try calling the PSP barrecks to see if they can contact the local WCO.I'd hesitate to release the fox because you have no legal grounds to do so,even though the slob that set it was wrong.

Ah ha, you are the guy trapping on Bob's property. Bob gave me a call, I used to be his neighbor. He was going to call the SE Regional office to see if they could get a deputy out. You don't want to remove the fox, the guy has 36 hours to remove the fox, even if the set is unlawful, no sense you get in trouble over it. Are there coyotes down along the river now, maybe his set was for coyotes?

Re: Here is 1 for ya.

Trappers came back, deer hunters called me, went down to get his info. A police officer showed up with the landowner. A father & son, who had the best intentions just a lack of knowledge. Offered up help and to take them out with me to teach them what little I know. Dad was a nice guy, son just wanted to set the 2 traps he bought with his own money. Son and his little friend were teary eyed, they thought they were in big trouble. Ended well, just feel sorry for the boys.

Re: Here is 1 for ya.

I've had a yote chew a tag in half and a coons rip them off. But bait visible from the air I don't know why people don't just set on the trails leading to the carcass/gut pile or whatever. I've seen how far the birds walk around and 15 yrds can be still to close.

They admitted not having a tag. Didn't know the laws.
