Jack Mackerel with peanute butter in a Duke DP?

I got a couple Duke dog proof coon traps I want to try when it warms up here in the next few days.

When using jack mackerel and peanut butter on a marshmallow do you mix the mackerel with the peanut butter in a jar or do you just stuff it in there separately on the marshmallow?

Re: Jack Mackerel with peanute butter in a Duke DP?

I use Oil Packed Sardines...

I take peanut butter from the 5 gallon bucket I get and put into a clean 5 gallon bucket (about a pound or 2) and then put the oil packed sardines in and then mini marshmellows and then use a Dry Wall Mud mixer on a drill and mix it all up....then when setting I use the DP trap as a guide for the size of the hole I need, dig out a square hole, put the peanut butter oil sardine marshmellow mix in the bottom and push the DP trap down ontop of it and then fill in and pack dirt in around the Circle top of the DP Trap....

Some might do it differently but that is how I do it and it has worked!

I did not know I was to put this trap *into* the ground. I thought I just baited it and left it lay *on* the ground or stuck that little spade end into the ground so the coon could pull it out and work it with both hands.

Just stick the spade in the ground. No need to bury the trap.

But those Coon Cuffs, I've caught plenty of coons using them.....I keep saying I'm going to swap another guy who has Zero Luck with the Coon Cuffs but much luck wit the Lil Griz Getters, my Lil Griz Getters for his Coon Cuffs, but he and I never seem to swap and each of us set them each season to see if we can manage a catch with them!

I Personally will take a million Coon Cuffs over the Lil Griz Getters and if those others ones shown are like the Lil Griz Getters, I'd personally stick with the Coon Cuffs since I have good results with them but nothing with the GLil Griz Getter types!
