Trappers Welcome

I'm a member of the Stonycreek Conemaugh River Improvement Project (SCRIP) and receive monthly emails of the meeting minutes. In their stream reports, I was pleasantly surprised to see the following passage.

Shade Creek
Hutchinson said one beaver was removed from Dark Shade Creek, but more remain. Trappers welcomed. He said the iron sludge from the settling pond at Reitz #1 will be pumped into a geo-tube and said hed like to turn the former bioreactor into an engineered wetland, similar to Rock Tunnel, which lead to a discussion of the Reitz #1 system. Hutchinson would like to see a wetland and accompanying waterfowl. He said the Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team is helping to monitor the Big 4 discharges weekly, as the DEP is interested in doing something with these discharges, perhaps in conjunction with the sewage system. Twenty years ago data on co-mingling sewage and AMD for treatment did not exist, but now there are data, though not much, so that may be an option.

The horizon is your starting point.
