Bad luck! I have yet to have this happen to me and I can only image the reaction. Hopefully you have better luck tomorrow!

Re: Some lessons can't be taught!!!!

Years ago, it happened to me with a red fox.

As I got to my set, there was a deer hunter standing there looking at the fox. I walked up and we chatted for a few minutes about trapping.

During our chat, the fox was jumping around and then, one final lunge…….. and he was gone.

Look at the bright side - at least you got a pic.

Re: Some lessons can't be taught!!!!

Just saw a bunch of posts on Facebook where guys are having it happen. A few traps and 2 broken cables lately. My buddy had one rip the jaws out of his trap on a hind foot catch last year, while he was getting ready to take a pic. I haven't had it happen yet, but if I see a possible toe catch I just shoot it quick.

Living the life one day at a time.

Re: Some lessons can't be taught!!!!

I knew it wasn't the best catch and stayed back for that reason...wouldn't turn and give me a shot...I was probably 50 feet away...when it did turn, it was gone. It did stop at the edge of the woods about 60 yds away to look back and laugh at me though(after I shot my one shot)!!!

Re: Some lessons can't be taught!!!!

i had something pull my stake clean out the ground yesterday!!!! took trap and all to lord knows where. only explanation i have is the ground was soft do to mud. if anybody in bradford county catches a yote with a #2 on its foot give the warden a call haha its got my tag on the chain. that would have been my first if it was a yote

The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Re: Some lessons can't be taught!!!!

I just finished up for the day fleshing coyotes from the freezer. Ugh . I wish some of mine would have pulled out when I showed up.
