Coyote from this morning

Another one from today. Young male.




Nice and deep.





There are some strange white clumps on his back. I'm hoping it is matted snow and ice. I've never seen mange. Tell me it's not as I'm about do skin him out.

A couple more. Fur if real thin from the ears back. Different consistency from the rest of body. Mange???

What Catmando said is possible
Possible starting to rub.
Possibly ticks. Ticks will weaken the neck area.
Possibly cabled and got out.
Hard to tell from here.
I had two Reds this season with necks like that. They were infested with Ticks (top on neck and behind ears) which weaken the neck fur area.

Thanks for all of the replies. After 3 years of trapping, I still have a lot to learn and its great to come here and be able to get info from experienced guys.
