Is it possible to catch a fisher

If you have already caught it this year, released it, then trap the same area for the same fisher next year or will they/it be trap shy?
Dumb question but I'm just curious

Re: Is it possible to catch a fisher

I think it can be done, I caught a fisher two years in a row at the exact same spot. In 2013 I caught and released a small fisher and in 2014 caught and harvested one that was a little bigger using the same hole for bait and the same bed for the trap that was still there from the year before. I set it up again this year and didn't catch any there. Not 100% it was the same one but feel it may have been.

I don't think they're to wary. A brown possum with a furry tail. If you can trap an area that has an established population, you'll catch them.

Re: Is it possible to catch a fisher

I am fairly sure the 1 I got this year on Dec. 22, is the same 1 I caught in Nov. 2013. It was at the same pine tree for sure.

Re: Is it possible to catch a fisher

Ok, it was my first fisher and I hated letting it go but you know the rules lol. In hopes of catching it again next year, also with hopes of it not being trap shy
