Releasing a bobcat from a cable restraint tutorial

Step one, catch a bobcat

Step two, watch bobcat lunge and break cable..that's it, you have successfully released the bobcat.

A haiku is just like a normal American poem, except it doesnt rhyme and is totally stupid.

Man...that's a pretty PA cat...no tag? Not in the right wmu? Season closed?(haven't followed the season this year as I haven't made it to cat country...).

Surprised it didn't choke itself out...cats are known to have fragile necks..definitely worked the cable though....

I filled my tag earlier in the week, this cat was bigger but the end result had to be the same. If he makes it to hunting season I'll try to call him in for a buddy of mine.

you had my attention at first .... I had one a few years ago in a cable , stepped back and did some thinking and ended up pounding a flat bar in the ground within the circle , then walking towards the cat he twisted up quickly and then I was able to put my pole on him and cut the cable . always wondered how else it could be done

guy at my CR class said if you put a large box with NO LIGHT penetrating it within the catch circle the cats see it as safety and dive right in. then you cut the cable and throw rocks at the box to tip it over. that was the instructor btw.

I'll never forget the first one I release from cable. What a rodeo.... I've learned alot since then.

I've been to a few cable classes, and the first thing they tell you, when releasing any animal you cut the cable between the washer and stop so that you don't release an animal with a cable hanging off its neck. That's a pretty bad instructor IMO. I haven't had to release anything but a house dog from mine so far, but I would only ever intentionally cut my cable to not leave it.

Catch pole and dikes seems pretty simple to me.
