bait to tainted ?

This year with the weather being very warm I am thinking that bait that I'm using in cubbys and hay sets[deer scraps] is getting to rancid and is not drawing critters to my sets. How about some opinions on this. Or maybe the extreme warm weather has the animals not needing to move and eat as much. What do you think?
