I have never trapped before in my life.
This year I was lucky enough to meet one of the regular contributors to this forum.
After sharing a location with him, he offered to teach me trapping if I would like to learn the art.
I took him up on his offer.
I could not have asked to meet a nicer guy, or a better teacher to teach me how to trap.
He even offered to give me a couple traps of my own to run and tag along with him checking traps.
So I got my fur takers license and bought a bobcat tag.
The past 2 weeks I have learned a lot from him and enjoyed all the time spend learning the art from a truly nice person.
My first catch, was a raccoon which I was very excited for..
Without spoiling another post I'm sure will be coming, yesterday I was beyond excited!
We walked up to first trap, and there was what we were hoping..
A Bobcat in my 1st year!
What a great day to share with a new friends and my wife..
It was a wet, muddy mess but I was super excited.. Small female but fine with me for my first one..
I feel privileged to have learned from such a great teacher & ambassador for your sport of trapping..
So in spending time together last week and talking about hunting, he said about never shooting a goose and wanting to..
I said no problem, we will go Thursday morning and he was more than welcome to tag along..
Well, we had a great day goose hunting & he was able to get a couple geese on his first hunt..
This was a small token I could offer to try to repay him for teaching me so much and letting a rookie bug him for a couple weeks..
But, now I think we have both got to experience something new in the outdoors we never had and believe we will both continue our newly learned pursuits..
Thank you Nick..
(sorry I couldn't wait) haha
