Re: new to trapping and want a cat

Never been trapping for cats, but from what I've learned, cubby sets are the way to go. Find tracks and set. They make it sound so simple, but I'm sure there is alot more to it. Good luck!

Re: new to trapping and want a cat

you may be better off starting with coons are something else first.cats may not be the most cautious furbearer however they are far from the easiest to catch.however if you really want some tips try a dirthole or cubby baited with beaver meat or just a castor based lure.

Re: new to trapping and want a cat

I hate to sound so negative here but I have to say it. If
you wanted to trap a bobcat why didn't you start doing your
homework alot earlier in the year? You have to scout to be
on the sign and you should have read some books or got a
dvd, or got in contact with a PTA member that would help
you out. Why do some people think 2 days before the season
they can come on here and be TOLD how to catch one. Most
trappers are willing to help a new guy out, as I usually am,
but make an effort for yourself much earlier than 2 days
before the season. With your complete lack of preparation,
you don't deserve a cat or help getting one, sorry but that
is my opinion.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

Re: new to trapping and want a cat

TC, maybe I was a little hard on you earlier and I am sorry
if I was. My dad and I will be trapping for cats for the
first time this season and we have been reading whatever
we can, watching trapping dvds and talking to other trappers
that have caught cats before to learn as much as we can
plus scouting for them. We found some good cat sign so we
are gonna try on our own to get em. I can offer some advice
on calling them, i have done that. I will send you a PM.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!
