A blind newbies frst week

So as stated im a new trapper with noboy to show me any tricks....I just watched a lot of YouTube videos.
I started with 6 1 3/4 traps and 6 DP Z traps....
After 1 week I've caught 2 porcupines, 2 coons,possum,skunk, and a grey fox
I have not caught 1 thing in my DP and at this point I'm looking to trade the. Away if there is any interest or can someone clue me in to the trick wih them. They are white Z traps and I cabled them to he trees....I never boiled he cables or traps because I didn't think k scent was issue with coona but maybe that's the problem....I've baited with cat food...wet and dry...capn crunch...marshmallows and even go coon lure to out on lip of trap.

Be patient... set on SIGN. Your coons could still be in crop fields, foraging corn/beans ( not sure where you are setting). You have 12 traps, spread them out in 6 different places. No worry about cable scent. Find your coon, they will be caught. Good luck.

They are spread out on 120 acres....I caught 1 coon Literally 15 yards from a DP up by cornfields. I love this stuff and the excitement of fur bouncing around in traps!

That coon probably found the other trap before it came to the DP.

I use cat or dog food in the trap a marshmallow on the trigger and some bacon grease around the lip. I have one now that has figured out to pull the trap out and duml the dog food out. Got me twice in a row now.

Re: A blind newbies frst week

Alpine4d, first off calm down, it is very early in the season, a lot of time yet. Traps are tools, like sockets and wrenches each has its place. Bait those dp's like you have been, I'd squirt some fish oil as a trailer to the trap, not on the food. Dp's are deadly, I have never boiled my cables, I think too many people go over board with odor control, just my .02. So when u catch these coon, what are u goin do with them? Just curious as I have 9 at FurHarvesters from last year that haven't sold. The agent I ship with told me to kill only xxl large prime coon if I want any money. U can pm me anytime and I will help you anyway I can with those DP's , believe me they are a great tool in the right situation .t

Re: A blind newbies frst week

Your doing good for a 1st timer.I like to gang set for coons.Find the most sign and slap down 3 or more sets right there.DPs work just great, give it time. The baits your using don't sound like they have much odor.I'd put them right on the trails leading into the crop fields so they cant miss them
