Late Trapper

Just starting Bobcat Trapping. No time to do the waxed dirt seeing we live in ever changing weather here in PA. Anyone know if I am able to buy this somewhere? Also, anyone ever trap Bobcats in Raccoon Creek State Park or surrounding areas? Brand new to this. Any help will be appreciative. Thanks

Re: Late Trapper

I understand trapping spots are like hunting spots, just thought someone might have a few suggestions. I am only looking for Bobcat. Not going to continue this for other species. In fact, only bought one trap.

Re: Late Trapper

You can buy waxed dirt at most trapper supply stores. As far as locations, you have to get out a do some scouting. Read up on behaviors and sign, do your homework. I'm not familiar with the area but any habitat that will support predators will support a bobcat.

Re: Late Trapper

you should start with more than one trap , unless you are more confident in your experience than your posts state

Re: Late Trapper

It is a ways away from trapping season. Be patient with your post, probably someone will be along to give you some advice on your area. I'm in 3A, so no help for you over there.

Like stated above, get more than one trap. You will probably pick up many more off species than cats, and won't want your only hope ruined each day. You need to scout, maybe put some cams out. Ask around the area. Try to find more than just one place. It is a short season for them, in the middle of winter, a few different spots would be beneficial.

Re: Late Trapper

Also, antifreeze and dry dirt will suit you fine as well.

Re: Late Trapper

wax dirt, you can still make it.i use a pan on the wood burner in the winter. a turkey frier burner will work also.i've heard of people using a crock pot! all it is is dry dirt with wax heated up till it melts into the dirt.once you make it for the first time you'll see how easy it is.

Re: Late Trapper

thanks guys. Will get another trap or two. Hunted all my life. First time trapping. If I was to trap two Bobcats, what do you use to release one? Will try to settle down about the trapping questions. LOL
