Didn't want it to end...

Well, after all of the talk of the downward spiral of the fur prices and the doom and gloom of this crappy winter we just had, the few nice days we had me thinking of spring beaver. Work was slowing up for me and I remembered the new beaver pond I found during deer season, so, I thought I'd give it a go!

The beaver dam is a good 2 mile walk "back in" the mountain since DCNR closed the roads for cross country ski enthusiasts.

Much of the pond was still frozen but a spring creek at the top end had a nice channel where the beaver swam up and would feed on the maple, alder and poplar trees.

I set a 330 in that channel and this was the result!

Hiking back to the truck was an adventure! That beaver felt like it weighed 50 pounds! Turned out, it only weighed 28.
