reprieve!!!

Today I saw a ton of fresh muskrat sign on a stretch of stream I just got permission to trap, and cursed the fact that in this county of DE the muskrat trappings season ended already. Then I found out it's been extended on account of the ridiculous weather we had in February. I can't describe how happy that made me.

Re: reprieve!!!

I'm hoping they don't have too many rut marks on them, they tend to go a little nuts after hard freezes and you find more little bites and cuts on them. Still, since I only have 5 rats and a beaver so far this year for my trouble, I'd at least like to catch enough rats to have a hat made or something!

Do you have black rats in your area?

Re: reprieve!!!

Haven't seen any, but this is my first year trapping around here. Or trapping at all since college, for that matter.
