Runnin coons.....

Last night was a good one! Hopefully the next two are just as good with the warmth in place. Released the little guy, but the big boar was looking real good. No rubbing at all. His face is all scared up. Must be a fighter?

Re: Runnin coons.....

A farmer up the raod called me at 3:30 to say there were 2 coon out in the hay field and he wanted them gone. About 7 mins later they were in my truck. We were both happy. no rubs good color. Thought I was done too. 6 yote sets to pull 2moro then make saw dust.

The difference between dreamers and achievers is action.
One try is worth a thousand guesses.

Re: Runnin coons.....

Kinda bummed out I'm not home to run the dog the last few nights! Sounds like it is windy...still a fair bit of snow and now flooding..and the fur was getting rough a couple weeks ago...

Who knows if the conditions are huntable my buddy is liable to have a couple for me when I get home!

Skinning the last ones I did was amazing how much weight and fat they lost..m

Am I just crazy or do late caught coon flesh harder? Seems like the fat and gristle is broken down and softer and harder to get a bite into with the fleshing knife...

Re: Runnin coons.....

Mauser, good hunting conditions except for muddy hillsides.

You are right they are tougher to scrape.

Its hard to tell how big they are till you get them on the board cause there is no weight to them.
