Had 5 doe come to about 15 yards of the tree stand. Why is it that it’s always 5 does and not 5 bucks? Other than that, 1 possum and about 750 squirrels.
Got in stand at 530. Watched the morning parade of 7 doe and a spikey cruise past unaware at around 20 yards at 0650. Decided to pass on taking one and just enjoy the view. About 735 the farmer who leases the neighbors field about 60 yards from my stand came in and started bailing hay. Just climbed down and walked back to the house. Nice morning and way to ease myself into the long season!
Saw 4 doe at a distance and then a spike came in and worked his way over to the food plot where an 8 point came out. It was a small 8, but then they started sparring. One red fox too. Maybe this evening if I feel like it and it’s not super hot out.
Decided to pass on today. Had some plans I couldn't get out off at 11. Didn't want to risk shooting one and since moving I don't have a garage fridge to hang the quarters in anymore.
I was in my stand at about 5:30. Heard grunts and deer movement before light, but saw no deer after daybreak. A small raccoon, a fox squirrel and a coyote was all I saw. Wished I could have gotten a shot at the coyote, but when he stopped at 25 yards he was behind a big oak and he trotted off from there.
Rifle or bow? My season (rifle) starts 26 Oct. and runs through 31 Oct. Also does your deer tag come with your license or do you have to purchase separately?
Got on stand at 4:30 at the Xmas tree farm, get in any later and you just push them out ahead of you. 5:30 had a huge skunk wandering around the ladder for about 15 minutes, followed by a housecat, then a second skunk.
Finally at 6:15 a 4 pt wandered past a little ways over. Always better in the early season on an afternoon hunt. Wish I could get out this afternoon too.
Was in my tree stand at 6:45 until 10am had 2 8 pts a 7 and 2 Does walk by, it was a great morning to be out, maybe next time if its cooler I`ll take my bow. I`m just scouting right now, too warm for me to be dragging one out. I`ve had 9 different bucks ( 5 shooters and 1 was a stud ) on my trail cam since the beginning of August from this stand, so I`m in no hurry to take one yet. Probably won`t see any when I do decide to take the Hoyt.....
Im not following you. You have trail cams out by this stand and have captured multiple bucks on cam. Today you just decide to sit in your stand to scout? Wasnt the scouting already accomplished wuth the trail cam? Seems like unnecessary pressure on a good stand to scout
A nice big fatty came by me at 7:10am, she had a bad day... One big fatty down, onto the evening sit. Acorns acorns acorns everywhere and a lot of deer to eat them up....
