I'm a little late posting this but with work and family I've been way to busy. Not much of a story because it all happened so fast. On Thursday the 23rd I was finally able to get out for a few hours. Got into my stand shortly after 4. I really wasn't expecting to see deer until 530-6. Sure enough right after 6 I see a flick of white 50 yards uphill in the thick stuff that's all around this stand on 3 sides. I wasn't sure if it was antlers or tail but figured it was a deer. Seconds later a 6 point comes running in to 20 yards, and right behind him is this deer.
He walks to my right where I have a tiny shooting lane at 10 yards. I give the errrrp. He stops. THWACK! He only runs 40 yards and I see him fall over! The muzzy ended up taking out the heart.
While I'm ecstatic of getting a nice buck, I was only on stand 2 hours by far the quickest for me. So it's also a little disappointing as I LOVE hunting the rut. I've got 4 doe tags to fill but typically save those for rifle hunting with my dad. Was tempted to try ohio but don't think it's worth the money for the license given the amount of time I'd be able to hunt which is next weekend and the12th through 15th. Good luck all!
