Coyote down!

Went out to do drives on the last day of flintlock in 2b. I was walking to set up on a drive and while arriving to my spot I notice a coyote across the the hollow trotting my way. Finally it stopped at 87yds (ranged it after) and took the shot. I could tell right away it was hit... after the 20 yd track job it ended up dying 10 yrds away from a dead spike it must have been eating! It was my first ever coyote and with a smokepole makes it that much better!

Cant seem to figure out how to post a pic

Re: Coyote down!

Thanks! Its been a crazy ML season for me... Shot a doe the Saturday prior. I hit a 7pt last day in butler (11th) and lost it due to the connequnessing creek it was frozen over and jumped in and never came back out! The lowest part of the season is knowing I hit a small coyote at that range but missed my biggest buck of my life at 35yds broadside in a field.... gotta love the smokepole!

Re: Coyote down!

Thats a perty good shot at 80+ yards. I missed a yote the 2nd week of flinter at about 40 yards standing still. In my defense, it stopped behind some brushay autumn olive and such. But I still like to think Im a good enuff shot to make a kill in that situation. darnit. Easier shot than a Deer that I missed a day earlier........ wait, did I say I was a good enuff shot ?
