3 days of Flintlock only left.

Will be making a mad dash for the finish line starting tomorrow AM. Hoping to get a buck... but will settle for a doe by the 11th. I have been hunting on public and I have yet to see one while in the field, though the evidence is there, I just can't seem to be in the right place at the right time. Hopefully, this cold snap is a blessing for me.

Heading out in the .morning myself. Doesn't take much to keep me inside and warm but it's the ninth inning and if I want some meat in the freezer it's now or never.

Heading out early myself. Long drive - but worth it.

Will be out all three days.

Good luck to all.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Re: 3 days of Flintlock only left.

Worked in Washington PA today.....in town.....4 big doe walking next to my car in the parking lot of a Nickles Bakery outlet. Not spooked at all. Saw about 10 on way home in the early afternoon along 70.

If all goes well I'll hit the woods tomorrow afternoon, Friday afternoon and saturday for as long as the weather holds. Seeing tons of deer and a few bucks just not getting them in my comfort zone.

Friend and hunting pal says Saturday is a supposed washout. That stinks. Was looking forward to trying like mad to roust one up. Flinters tough in a steady rain.

I'm back. Darn deer didn't cooperate. Saw about 25 but they didn't travel the way they normally do. Somebody (or something) must have tipped them off.

Re: 3 days of Flintlock only left.

Would you believe the road to the State Forest I hunt was nothing but a sheet of ice. Couldn't make it up the darn hill...I've been putting off putting on the studded winter tires, well after this mornings fiasco got em put on and was in the woods by 0930. I'd say I missed the moving deer by about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I was disgusted. Tomorrow is supposed to be a wintry mix and rain Saturday. Might be the end of the line for me this year.
