Need some work done on my Flinter

My Traditions flintlock came with a swivel sling attachment attached to the ram rod holder. Well I had what I thought was a loose screw holding it all together, turns out it was snapped off in the hole. I tried to take the other one out because it looked a bit iffy, it broke off as well. I do enjoy the sling option, but it isn't a deal breaker. My biggest concern is the piece that holds my rod to the gun now slides up and down the rod.

Does anyone know someone close to Doylestown that could possible fix this? I assume new holes will need to be drilled and tapped and new screws put it.

A small easy out will clear the tapped holes. And if you call Traditions, they can replace the screw or pipe with the same parts. Probably cost a few dollars for a gunsmith to do it for you!

Thanks Rusty, not to sound dumb, what's an easy out? Can I pick one up at HD or Lowes or Ace?

It is a bit for removing stuff from holes. Using a smaller than the screw drill bit, you drill a small hole into it. Then you use the easy out in the hole, and reverse the drill. Slowly it will grab the screw and back it out.

Need a variable speed drill.

And yes, Ace, HD, Lowes and maybe Wallyworld have easy outs.

Or I think the guys at Claytons on 611 would be able to take the screws out for you.

Ok thanks, I just looked it up, I always heard them called reamers and I'm sure they're not reamers either. Thanks!

Re: Need some work done on my Flinter

Sorry I keep adding on. But here is a good video showing how to use one.

No worries, thanks for posting it all. That guy in the video was a real positive person wasn't he?
