Mentor with the flinter?

Since my son has a mentor license, does it also apply that he can go in flinter season but also his buck tag also becomes a doe tag? Didn't see anything in the regs to confirm it. Thanks

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

Ok I think I found my answer. I looked in the law and regs section and managed to find a post from a year ago.

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

well the post i found on here was from a year ago and it said that he could only shoot buck, so who knows with our PGC what may have changed since then. I would like to know if he can use my doe tag though. So if anyone can shed some light on that I'd appreciate it.

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

does one have to purchase a flintlock license for the child in addition to having a mentor tag?

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

It changed this year with the mentor doe license change.

The buck tag now can be used as a doe tag in the late flintlock season. And they can use your doe tag if you choose to do it that way.

I know this for sure, as I called the regional office 2 days ago to verify.

Good luck hunting...

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

I would call harrisburg to make sure. I do not believe a MY can shoot a doe with a flintlock, only a buck.

The MY can shoot a doe if the mentor has a doe license and that license in transferred to the youth.

Re: Mentor with the flinter?

This really should be posted in the Hunting Laws and Regs forum.
