Need help finding a brush bullet

Well i got a CVA wolf 50cal for next year rifle season and I hunt brush alot. Im trying to find a good bullet for that. I tried some 460 grain flat nose great plains bullets and Im having terrible results, they seem to be tumbling... I was using 100 graings of 777 behind them. I tried a powerbelt just to make sure the gun was ok and i had great bullethole in the target? I heard powerbelts are terrible for passthroughs and not great for brush. If anyone could recommend something to try for brush that would be great.

No bullet is "great for brush". A bullet of any caliber or weight can be deflected by brush. The best solution is to make sure you have a clear shot.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Re: Need help finding a brush bullet

100 grains of 777 and a 460 grain bullet. Even Quigley's Sharps wasn't shooting that heavy a load. Is your shoulder bruised? The 50-90 shot by Billy Dixon in 1874 brought down a Kiowa at 7/8 mile. (450 grain bullet) (Google Adobe Walls) A 45-70 with a 500 grain bullet is good for one shot buff kills at 500 yds. You're hunting in brush for a short range shot with an elephant load for whitetail?

Back off on the powder to about 70 grains and consider switching to a 240 to 300 grain bullet. You will probably have faster velocity and higher energy for the short range shots available in brush.

Re: Need help finding a brush bullet

Use a brush hog for brush, and any projectile that will shoot accurately from your gun will do. Brush bullet

Those wolfs love powerbelts so i would not hesitate to use them.I've had great success with them!
