Well I finally did it!!

I went and jumped into the blackpowder scene. I just this afternoon went to Dick's and bought a T/C .50 Firestorm. I bought the pyrodex pellets and the TC 245 gr.shockwave mag express sabots. I've never owned or shot a Flinter before, am I headed down the right path with this load? Any suggestions?

I shoot real BP and RB,s only with good success but know these rifles can shoot subs and other projectiles.I did try Pyro pellets before and it also fired fine.Make sure though that you only use pure BP for your priming charge.Good luck and congrats on a fine choice and welcome to a great sport.

You also need to spend alot of range time to get to know your rifle and to train your self to shoot a flinter and to handle one safely.Do yourself a huge favor by not rushing it.

good ole boy what type of BP do you use? I'm not against trying different loads to see what works best.

I use a .490 RB with a lubed .015 prelubed patch with a bore button and 70 grains of 3F Goex BP(or 2 Pyrodex50/50 pellets with bore button)and 4F Goex BP in the pan about half full.

Re: Well I finally did it!!

I also have the Firestorm. I'm using two 50gr Pyrodex pellets and 295gr Powerbelt hollow point. Loading is simple, and accuracy is really good.

You're gonna like that gun. I was new into it last season and IMHO the Firestorm is a great entry level gun. Easy to use, load, accurate, and if you keep the powder dry it will go off.

Good luck!
