Well its early but how many others had this happen already this year. i had this happen in the snow squall monday in pittsburgh. doe 15 yards away and i wasnt expectin her. caught her off gaurd as i crested a hill. no time to check the flashpan and as i raised the gun i noticed snow on the top of the pan. knew it was a bad sign but to late. i raised and shower of sparks but no boom. next day i had a shot at 100 yards but waited for closer but the vanished on me. shot before i left to make sure load was still good adn boom on the first pull. darn smokepoles anyway.
There's always the chance the flinter won't go off... kind of adds to the reward when it all comes together. Tough time of the year to hunt... you add all the challenges of a flintlock to it, it really makes one smile when you knock one down.
Keep at it... and good luck!
