Pacific Zephyr

Does anyone own or have you shot one of these very powerful ball shooters? There is no internal parts to the lock and the trigger guard is the main spring that works the hammer in this under hammer rifle that shoots balls only up to 72 cal, I believe. The nipple screws directly into the barrel to make it a true in-line in a traditional rifle. Are they as nice as people say they are and are they worth the money?......John

Re: Pacific Zephyr

I have an old Hopkins and Allen under hammer target rifle. Very long barrel, receiver sights, etc. Darn accurate when i do my part. Some are slightly different and have single or double set triggers. Most of the super heavy bench guns and slug guns are under hammers

Re: Pacific Zephyr

Nope. No 11's stick right on and hold fast until fired.

The big bench guns often have sealed ignition. There is a cover that screws over the capped nipple.

Re: Pacific Zephyr

About 35 years ago there was a company in Olney, TX called Mowery that made replicas of Hopkins and Allen underhammer rifles. They are gone now.

Dixie Gunworks makes an underhammer gun they call a buggy rifle.
