Long gun kit?

Where is the best place to buy a long gun kit? Want one that comes with everything and just needs some finish work.

Re: Long gun kit?

There are a couple options. biggest thing is how much do you want to spend?

I bought a Cabelas Hawken kit around 8-9 years ago. It was only $179 then. Mine was just finish work for the most part. You could also end up with a "KIT" that is a piece of wood and a barrel.

In 30 years of shooting black powder, I have never heard anything but good about tip. Never met the man, I did buy some guns from his son, who was great to deal with.

Re: Long gun kit?

No one makes a long gun kit that just requires final fit and finish. What is called a kit is a components set. Lots of work. If you want a good quality gun at the best price look for one finished "in the white". Sometimes Dave Keck at Knob Mountain Muzzleloading has a few. Tip Curtis always has them, as does Troy Roope at Stonewall Creek Outfitters. Knob Mountain is near Bloomsburg, PA.. Dave and Troy have web site, Tip does not. You will be looking at $1000 to $1200 for such a gun.
