CVA Optima - IMR White Hots - Powerbelt Aerolites

Took that combo out today even though it was 92 friggin degrees! Had one heck of a rain storm yesterday which flooded the drive way and washed all kinds of debris into the gravel, but i felt like shooting today and just about killed myself with the intense heat and then add into the moisture in the air due to the soaked ground.

I got up to my shooting table and felt like my heart was about to burst out of my chest. This kind of weather really affects my breathing, slight case of asthma and i don't carry anything on me so i deal with it LOL.

But anyway, i used my new Optima with both 100 and 150gr charges IMR White Hots, Winchester W209 primers, 250gr Powerbelt Aerolites and the results were pretty darn fantastic for pellets.

I did swab between shots as the crud ring is still there and everything worked just fine.

The 150gr load actually grouped a bit tighter that the 100gr load.

The only darn place that had cool shade was under the side of my truck. I only did this after i fired 3 shots and then went to check the target.

Top 3 shots are with 150gr IMR White Hots, The bottom 3 are with 100gr IMR White Hots. 250gr Powerbelt Aerolites.

Great accuracy but swabbing still [censored].

Well i honestly dont know how to answer that. They are slower than triple 7, but one big deal is that the fouling they leave behind is softer than the fouling that t7 produces. Both pellets can be accurate with the right load so its just going to be a personal deal.

I just like to play around and try new things. I cant shoot pellets in my state so i shoot blackhorn209 98 - 99% of the time.

yes i have. It has a very sharp learning curve to it. Its one of the hardest powders for others to get to shoot well. Powder compression, bullet weight, bullet fit, all of this plays a key factor in whether or not you can get it to be accurate or not.

depends on what gun. if you are using a CVA optima i can touch holes with mine at 100 yards using two 50 grain pyrodex pellets a 209 primer and 295 grain copper clad hollow point power belts.

i have a simmons 3x9 scope on it too. cleaning it every 2 shots for accuracy. it shoots better than my buddies encore, or maybe i just shoot better than him

Pyrodex pellets - Triple 7 pellets can both be accurate.

But the GOD of all powders is Blackhorn209.
