A good trade?

Took my .54 cal Renegade percussion capper to a local gun show and swapped it straight up for a 50. T/C Pennsylvania Hunter flintlock. Gave the PA Hunter a good once over before trading. Clean rifling/bore, tight lock, minimal wear on the barrel (no rust), couple small dings on the wood. I think I came out ahead. The Renegade was in great shape, I had no use for it. The PA hunter I can use for bambi. Anyone have good experience w/ a PA Hunter?

Re: A good trade?

the renegade IMO would have had more value as the .54's are much harder to come by. But as long as you are happy and got what you wanted and enjoy, that's all that matters.

Re: A good trade?

I had a PA Hunter for a few years and ended up selling it so I could purchase a Lyman Deerstalker. I took good care of that PA Hunter but the trigger eventually froze up on me. I had several coyotes in front of me when that happened. I seemed to have a lot of no-fires with that TC gun---a lot more than my Lyman.

Good luck with it.

Re: A good trade?

Sounds like a fair trade to me.
I hunt with a PA hunter carbine flintlock and like it alot.
The rifle with the longer sight radius should be a tad easier to hit with.

Have fun

Re: A good trade?

I have one and it has served me well. I do have a misfire now and again like every flinter I know of. Wife got me this one many years ago.
