At this point you have nothing to lose by trying to fix the crack. I have fixed many and you could not tell there ever was a crack. First off there has to be a reason that it cracked so check that the lock is not to tight and remove any wood so it drops in. Then clean the crack if there is a lot of oil present. I was taught a long time ago that a good glue joint is stronger than wood so make sure you have a good way to clamp the fix before you touch the glue. Use a good glue and not just Elmer's white which will not hold up to water and give the repair 24 hours to cure. A little sanding and maybe a little finish touch up and should be good as new.
