blackhorn 209 very nice!

I was shooting my CVA the other day and tried the new powder. I have always used black powder.

I always had good results with normal black powder. But it was well black powder. dirty.... So I broke down a got some of the blackhorn 209. I shot it for groups three shots. I cleaned the barrel after each shot.

75 yards off bench with 100 grains, green harvester sabot with Hornady 240 grian xpt bullet, winchester primmer= sub one inch group!

the group did open little more at 100 yards 1 -2 inch groups. I would let barrel rest after each shot and took my time on the shot. I am very very happy!

Now cleaning the rifle WOW just WOW. Night and day easier than black power. The only thing I did not like was the price of this stuff. But the benefits are nice.

will hunt for food....

Shoots AWESOME out of my Encore. My groups were tighter after a few shots. Amazingly clean!
Buy in bulk. 5 lb container little salty up front. Around 100$ savings in long run over 10oz bottles.

My hunting partners and I have been using black Horn 209 for several years now. We don't clean between shots and get great groups with it. In fact we take two fouling shots before setting down to sight in our rifles. We are using both Barnes bullets and hornday bullets with great success. Clean up with 209 only takes 6 patches and we are done.

I've shot Blackhorn that's four years old without loss of power. Plus, Blackhorn 209 is non hydroscopic so it will not absorb water like other black powders. As a result, the shelf life is longer and should you get the powder wet, it will dry naturally and not lose power and not be permanently contaminated, like all the other subs.

Re: blackhorn 209 very nice!

I think the price of BH209 could come down if another company brings out a competitive propellant. Right now, BH209 has the field (a smokeless muzzleloading propellant) to itself.
