Re: Renegade load?

try 85 grains with a .495 roundball and a pillow ticking patch. I have never shot conicals but this load is a good starting point.

90 gr.2f with a 370 gr. T/C Maxi ball. Sight in at 65yds. Impacts an 1.5" high at 30yds. and 1.5 " low at 100 yds.

Re: Renegade load?

Try different patch thickness of .015 or.018.Try also .490 or .495.Try FFF and FF.
Here is a 50yd target.RB's should give you 1 1/2" or less at 50yds.

Re: Renegade load?

This was from a TC Hawken but the barrels are the same with the exception of the Renegage being 1" across the flats and Hawken 15/16".
Each gun CAN be different.Had some 50's that liked FFg others liked FFFg.When testing fire a 3 shot group. Some run a wet patch followed by couple dry ones after each shot.I usually do this after 3 shots.
It's the 1st shot out of a clean barrel that does the job.
Here is the lube.

Re: Renegade load?

The Renegade has a 26" barrel. The Hawken has a 28" barrel.
Both have a 1/48 twist.

Re: Renegade load?

The higher speed of the round ball gives a flatter trajectory as well as higher energy out to most deer hunting range compared to a conical over the same powder.
