Orange requirements argument

So I have a bet with my buddy. According to the regulations in late flintlock season (after Christmas) no Orange is required, but my buddy says that Orange is required. who is right? We plan on hunting tomorrow with our flintlocks

No orange is required to flintlock or archery hunt during the late season.

Yes, special reg areas are the exception, he might try to use special reg areas to prove me wrong

Re: Orange requirements argument

You do not need orange in SRA to flintlock hunt, but it is recommended.

For archery i think you only got to wear it when it overlaps with the early muzzy season?

Re: Orange requirements argument

But, if you decide to take a pop at a squirrel with your flinter during the late season, you then become a small game hunter and orange is required..................no??

I kill because I'm hunting, but killing is not the reason I go hunting.

The calibers legal for deer, are not legal for squirrels. Regardless of whether 250 sq inches of orange is displayed....it's the hangman's noose. If using a small game legal caliber, the orange has to be displayed, but don't get caught with a drag rope and other deer related gear.

We fought hard to be able to small game hunt with our small bores during these crossover seasons.

Re: Orange requirements argument

Don't have a book in front of me but I'm pretty sure there is a special note in there now stating even in SRAs it is not required as long as you are flintlock or archery hunting though recommended...

I know its not required...for a while it was questionable since there was a gun season in at the same time..then I remember the special note being added..
