t/c Omega

I recently became the new owner of a T/C Omega SS fluted .50 cal inline. I has a Nikon Omega 3-9 BDC scope. I was given this gun with out paperwork and such. I was wondering what kinda loads have people used in this rifle. I have owned a T/c Omega Z5 before and it loved 100 grains loose 777, with a T/C shockwave ( yellow tip) with remmy 209 primer.

This gun is cherry condition the owner fired it like 10 times to sight it in then never shot it again.

I read a lot about blackhorn 209. is the hype correct.

Re: t/c Omega

I use blackhorn 209 and love it. its much easier to clean up afterwards in my opinion. I am using 110gr of blackhorn (by volume) and 250gr shockwaves. this is near the upper limit of 120 gr loads of blackhorn. I was using 100gr loads but I lost 2 deer last year because the shock waves apparently passed straight through and I could not find a blood trail this was after knocking the deer down so I know I hit them but no blood what so ever. I may be changing bullets if it happens again.

Re: t/c Omega

well I just found a ton of Goex Black powder and I have hornady 44 cal xpt bullets 200 grain and some T/C green sabot cups for cheap.

I love this bullet and had great success with it in the past. So I am off to the range this weekend and start working up a load.

I am so excited to shoot this gun!

Re: t/c Omega

Yes, believe the hype of Blackhorn 209. It is all true. I wish I'd have discovered it sooner. Never exceed 120 grains of it, it is more energetic than other black powder subs and is near equivalent to 150 grains of triple seven or pyrodex etc..... I like using harvester crush rib sabots with just about any Barnes muzzleloader bullets. They're accurate and have given me devastating performance. This is out of a TC Impact, which shares the same type of barrel as the Omega.

Re: t/c Omega

I use 100gr loose 777 with a 240gr XTP Hollow point. Shoots great and puts deer down quick. I also like the 250 Shockwave but I ended up with a bunch of XTP's one year when Walmart put them on sale after the season, so I'm sticking with them.

Here check out this video about the Omega I made

Re: t/c Omega

I won't use anything but Blackhorn 209 anymore! The stuff is awesome and my T/C loves it pushing a Shockwave 250gr bullet! I get sub 1" groups (usually holes are cutting each other) at 100yds and in my book that's pretty darn good!!

Re: t/c Omega

I use 80 gr. of loose 777 w/ 250 gr. Hornaday XTP bullet in T/C mag express sabot and have GREAT success over the years. Longest kill shot was 200 yds. 3 shot group @ 100 yds are sub 1" all day long. On the bench, I clean between every shot for best accuracy.
