Flintlock 50 cal

Looking at purchasing a .50 cal Flintlock Traditions and was wondering if this weapon is good/bad etc? Can you shoot only round ball or is other ammo Ok? If using round ball, what are the best patches to use? Seems I can't find a decent lubricated one.

Thoughts? tx

What model Traditions? Is it good or bad?Thats like a 50/50 thing! You will get all kind of opinions!
As to round ball or other ammo. Need to know the twist rate of the rifle.
As to patches and lubes, this is a trial and error deal

Re: Flintlock 50 cal

I got a pa pellet this summer, First time I tried it, had terrible ignition trouble, I also had a older model that was great, The older model needed a allen wrench to remove the breech plug. New one needs nothing. As I am a retired toolmaker and have a lathe and miller to use I fixed it myself. I would not buy another unless you know what to do to fix it. I cannot tell anyone as I do not want to be sued if it fails and someone gets hurt.

Just my 2 cents worth, buy a lyman
