flintlock loads

hey guys what loads do you generally use in your flintlocks? I have a pa pellet accelerator and thinking of using 80 grains of powder.

I use 80 grains of Goex 2f behind a patch and ball.

Re: flintlock loads

I shoot 80-90 grains in every rifle I ever owned with good accuracy. I have a couple that like 2f and some that like 3f better though. Patch size, ball size, lube varies until that charge level shoots.

Re: flintlock loads

I have some small frame 45's that get 50grs on up to the 58 that likes 120grs.Have killed deer with all.Use the MOST accurate load and the one that hits where you are aiming with the 1st shot out of a clean bore.

The answers to all of life's questions are found in the Bible!

Re: flintlock loads

I use 90 grains Goex 3F in both my .50 cal CVA Mountain Rifles as well as my TC Hawken in .50. My .54 TC Hawken gets 100 grains of 3F as does my poor boy in .50.

My Hawken pistol gets 50 grains 3F.

Re: flintlock loads

I use 80gr goex 3f and patched round ball in a pa hunter. It has worked great since 1990 and taken more deer than i can count.

You can be part of the problem, part of the solution, or part of the landscape. Its up to you.
