My smeller doesn't work as well as it should, but I took a whiff of my Goex and couldn't detect any odor to speak of.
Now, once you activate black powder by pulling the trigger, it takes on a wonderful aroma similar to that which you encountered. Is American Pioneer Powder "real" black powder?

I am very familiar with black powder smell. Just ordered 25lbs as i am down to my last 2 pounds. This APP stuff smells bad right out of the can. I have heard that it does not have a long shelf life.

American Pioneer powder is sulfur-less so if you're smelling a rotten egg odor I suspect what's in the can is not that. For safety sake, I would not use it or pass it on to anyone.

The older I get, the stronger gravity becomes.

Smokeless powder, when bad, will have a sour smell...for what that is worth.

There is no doubt that what is in the container is APP it is in 50 grain stick form and the container was previously unopened. Just smells funky to me.

Might be time to load some up, strap the gun to the bench and tie a string to the trigger and then stand behind a tree before you touch it off? Use someone else's rifle, lol.

American Pioneer loose forum smells like brown sugar with a little acidic behind it.
