Moving Wall Coming To Meadville...

The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall is coming to Meadville on Sept 20 to 24, sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Post 52 of Meadville. If your heading that way on that week and have never seen it, this is a great opportunity to stop by and honor our 58,000 servicemen and woman who fought and died honorably for our country. It is quite humbling to say the least....

Who`s going?...I know I am....

If you don`t stand behind our Troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them....

I've been looking for a good reason to get back to my old stomping grounds for a few years. This year the weather, Marine Corps League stuff and repeated trips to SC have vectored me to other locations and things.
This would be worth getting my compass re calibrated and make the drive.

Is there any more information on the item? Meadville papers maybe?

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

When the wall came to Luzerne County last year it was amazing. It came to the Swoyerville American Legion and was set up on the little league field. We have one native son on the wall. I left him a chevron. He went to school with my brother but is 10 years older than me and I can only remember him picking on me as an 8 year old.
When the wall came in the trucks the American Legion riders lead a line up of MC riders about a half mile to a mile long to escort the wall into the county. Very impressive. Each town's police lead the way to the border of the next town. Again impressive.

The wall itself is moving. Not in it's mobility but the way it moves people. People that you never expect it to move. I could see it in my brothers face. something he has not talked about in many many years. But he was front and center with is cruse book on the section that listed all the sailors lost on the USS Forrestal. I seen my brother like I have never seen him before. He hid it well for all these years.

Vietman vets, vets and non vets should not miss the chance to see this wall. Even if you have been to the Wall in DC. This one is kind of personal. Waugh!

The moving wall was brought to Tobyhanna Army Depot a couple of years before I had left there. jimbridger is spot on in his assessment of how it moves people. When I still worked at the Depot close to half of the employees were Vietnam vets, and another large percentage of us were also vets. A lot of emotional responses were displayed there, and from some folks that you would never expect it from.

Shoot straight

People are sick of politicians, and me, I hate cats in the house.
