I've been getting some decent pictures of some holdover pheasants and today I was able to get a few more. The first point of the day:
I was expecting a bird but a big doe jumped up. I was surprised and didn't get a picture of the deer. After this I was just enjoying the walk and realized Blitz was not around. After several minutes some birds flush out of the switchgrass. Blitz must have been on point and I walked past him in the high grass.
After that the dogs worked another area of grass and even though I couldn't see them on point I knew they were working a bird. I got a few pictures that were a little closer.
I like this picture with the setting sun.
I didn't try to find the quail since it was getting late in the evening but I may look for them this weekend since it will be a little warmer. These birds sure are fun during a long, cold winter.
