Pheasant

Took my beagle puppy for a walk through some thickets today on my neighbors property. Near the edge I flushed a female pheasant. No one in the area stocks pheasant that i know of and the closest gamelands are quite a distance away. My other neighbor saw a male numerous times before the season started. He heard it opening day of deer also. Could these be holdovers from last years stocking that kinda moved into this area? Or could they be wild to have survived this long with all the predators?

Re: Pheasant

I doubt it. I would bet you have a farmer with a green conservation sign close by and they stock that location.

There is one over 3 miles away. They did stock 3 hens and a male. I just saw the male yesterday. He is often along the road. The local folks have asked everyone to not shoot them which has been abided by so far. Either way its nice to have them hanging around.
