Re: No Open Season

PAGSPHUNTING,
Huns are not a legal game bird here in Pa, they were put on the no shoot list awhile back, you need a special permit
to use them or have a Regulated Shooting Grouses license. A Lot of us used them as training birds until this happened.

Re: No Open Season

I do believe the PGC attempted to establish wild populations of huns in the past...it may be an antiquated law that never got changed. I know at one time (and it still may be true yet) that there was/is "no open season" regulations on sharptail grouse in PA also.

Re: No Open Season

PCD...what is a Regulated Shooting Grouses License?

One other thing about huns...I do believe they are more difficult to raise in captivity than other species such as chukar, quail and pheasants.

Re: No Open Season

Pennsylvania has tried many different gamebird introductions in the past. California Valley Quail, Hungarian partridge and sharptail grouse.
