PGC Pheasant Stockings

All of you guys who can't understand why some of us show such interest in the pheasant stockings should try a little empathy. Consider that, in a lot of areas, these stockings are ALL WE HAVE to provide upland hunting opportunities, save for visits to the preserves where we pay 20 bucks a pheasant or more.
It's not right to berate people just because they rely on the Game Commission to provide alternate opportunities.
Sorry if some of us can't walk out our door and find wild birds(grouse/woodcock). Guess we should just take nice walks in the woods with our dogs and be thankful for nature as you say.

These are the good old days.

I totally agree, it is nice to be ale to hunt truly wild birds but not everyone can afford that or are physically able to do so.

Re: PGC Pheasant Stockings

agreed. i reluctantly had to move to th area i live in now and seldom have more than a few hours i can escape to get my dog into birds. unfortunately hunting stocked pheasants or going to a preserve are my options most days

Re: PGC Pheasant Stockings

Yes, Yes, Yes I agree. Gas prices and the miles to travel for wild birds sure can get tough for some of us.

A hearty thanks to the PA Game Commission for their stocking efforts.

If it weren't for Bird Dogs and Upland Game Birds I would be just another Bored Old Man!

Re: PGC Pheasant Stockings

I agree as well. I travel 2+ hours each way to hunt some marginal grouse cover. It'a nice to have an alternative a little closer to home. I also agree the birds were very nice this year.
Thanks PGC.

Re: PGC Pheasant Stockings

Right on the money! The PGC HAS DONE A GREAT JOB. Many people can't travel across the state to hunt grouse and if we did how long would those birds last.

Re: PGC Pheasant Stockings

I agree with the above comments. Without stocked pheasants I don't know how much time I would spend hunting with the dogs.
