Weasels & trapping

I have noticed more grouse = more weasels in my hunting coverts. The dogs are scaring them up trees quite a bit. Without the dogs, I'd probably never see them. They are small game killing machines, probably more deadly than avian predators because they destroy nests.

The only reason I bring this up is I think if you hunt small game, you should be a good steward of hunting areas which involves trapping. I have raised many types of birds over the years. Avian predators will pick at your flock but canines, coon, etc. will wipe them out killing as many as they can. It is nice to get involved in habitat organizations, but trapping should not be neglected even if it not profitable, such as the case of weasels. Weasels only bring a couple bucks and hardly worth the effort of setting/checking traps. I wish their was a bounty on weasels.
