12 year old son to hunt w/ beagle, collar options

Hello. We 12 year old son just got his hunting license and will be sending his beagle away to be started on rabbits tomorrow. His 7 year old brother is begging to go once the dog is ready.

My older boy researched electronic collars and tracking systems but are not sure what is needed as they would be devastated if something happened to their dog. Any thoughts on finding an inexpensive option is greatly appreciated as he is learning hunting can be an expensive sport. We live in Hunterdon County, NJ

Tri-Tronics Classic 70

The Garmin Alpha which will give you GPS and shock collar.

Don't go cheap on a shock collar system Tri-Tronics is worth its money.

Lion Country Supply has both units.

I agree with Joe, don't go cheap. A shock collar can be a life saver if you have a dog nearing a road or a dog that runs a deer. A deer run will inevitably end up crossing a road and cause a lot of heartache for your boy.
