Not a thing new here, cover crops have been used for a long long time.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Mother Jones and the NYT are about as far left as it gets...

Interestingly enough cover crops aren't a new idea (Similar practices first recorded in the book of Leviticus instructing Levite farmers to rest the land every 7 years.) but US farms implementing them in the masses definitely are. Effort and toil seem to bear better fruit when the guidelines are abided by.

Re: Spread the News, the Obi Wan Kanobi of soil health

In all actuality, David is just part of the movement, spawned by Ray Archuletta(NRCS). Ray is and advocate for treating the soil as a living, breathing thing, that must be monitored. It goes alot deeper than just tillage, and covercrops and crop rotations. Basically if you treat the soil right, and not just use it as a medium to grow your crops, you can have a huge impact on costs and profits. Its not something the big ag companies like to hear, as he is basically flying in the face of the GMO's, and hybrids that are on the market today. He's really starting to turn some heads across the country. If you ever get the chance to see Ray speak, I highly suggest it. He spend sometime in SE PA this summer. Should have seen the look in the eyes of the amish and he told them about not abusing the ground!!!
