Re: A week to hunt
This all depends on which kind of birds you are going to hunt and where want to hunt. The location area means a lot.
If you are going to hunt Grouse here in Pa, and want a challenging beautiful hunt, go when the leaves are turning and just about all off the trees, say the 3rd week of October. Usually the Grouse are not quite as spooky and if you get some rain to wet the leaves, and some sun shine behind the rain, Grouse hunting can be both beautiful & incredible at this time of year. Or you can wait till the 1st light snow usually in late November here in Potter/Tioga. Many people do as dap recommends and take many long weekends during Grouse season, especially in Oct and Nov to hunt both Grouse & Woodcock with some Pheasant thrown in also.
Being retired now, I spend the complete season Grouse & Woodcock hunting, with breakes for Thanksgiving and Christmas and of course rifle deer season.
Never care about what other people believe, be strong and walk in the way of the Lord.
