visiting pjeasant hunter:

I can't make my annual trip to South Dakota this year. Seriously considering a mid week pheasant hunt on PA game lands. I'm looking primarily South Central and South West. I'm not asking for any specific locations. I'd like an honest opinion as to what to expect i.e. crowds and birds. Thank you

Re: visiting pjeasant hunter:

If you're planning on hunting stocked gamelands, you can expect crowds. Hunting mid-week might help some. The birds seem to wise up fast, but there are some in-season stockings each week that might make things easier.

If you're having trouble hunting for deer,
don't wish things were easier;
wish you were smarter.

Re: visiting pjeasant hunter:

I see a lot of out of state hunters (VA and MD) hunt the gamelands in Adams County off of RT. 15. Might want to start there depending where you are coming from.

Re: visiting pjeasant hunter:

Thank you all: I was planning on camping but it appears that the state campgrounds close before November. Any suggestions for Franklin and Somerset counties? How about mom and pop motels?

Re: visiting pjeasant hunter:

If you want to camp you may want to check out the Gettysburg area. It is not far from Franklin County and you can also hit Adams county and northern York county from rt 15.
